Today is the day we have travelled around to the other side of the world to join. Josephines graduation from Griffith university.
We had breakfast at the beach and they had gluten free bread so I ordered toast. Wooohooo, tasted exactly like normal bread. Just missed the cheese, they always just have butter and jam here and to me that is not breakfast. Uhhh, beginning to sound like a grumpy old person, am I??? 😉 I don’t like this, I don’t like that, bla bla bla… 😉
Then we all went back to the hotel and started preparing us for graduation. Showering, ironing, dressing, fixing the hair etc.
Lunch at Hurricane
At 14.00 we all met for a graduation lunch at Hurricane, Maffe and Therese and their parents from Sala and Gothenburg and us. We all had ribs and steaks and sparkling wine and I was SOOO afraid Jossan would stain her new, white dress with glazed ribs!!!! Would have been impossible to fix that. But we all got haklappar xxxxxx so it all went well. It was a very nice lunch, nice to meet both JOssans friends and also their parents.
After this lovely lunch the girls went off to prepare for the big event and we went back home. The graduation started at 19.00 and we had planned to take the tram there but instead we walked. It was just 4 stations but I felt a bit nervous there for a while, not knowing the exact distance and the time it would take to walk. But we got there on time, phuuuu.
Bachelor of Commerce, Majoring in Finance and Economics
We took our seats. Jossan had gotten us the tickets, VERY good seats. So there we were, all surrounded by students in capes and hats, all black and white. And then also all the teachers on the stage, and they were all in black and red, with even more strange hats on their heads. Can’t help feeling that I am part of a Harry Potter movie when looking at all this. Hahahahahaha. The graduation took a LONG time but it all went very well. All the students got their diplomas and then afterwards there were2 different receptions. Jossan and us were invited to the Honours Collage, a special reception for the students with very high grades. Jossan had 6,8 and as a maximum you can get 7. My God, she has done SO VERY WELL and we are so impressed and also so very proud of her.
At the reception there were sparkling wine and white wine and also snittar, whatever that is called in English, small tasty bits that you can eat while mingling. The students also got to take their photo there, with their diploma, without the diploma and also with their family. Hope the photos will be great. All was “done and dusted”, hahahaha, at around 22.00 so then Jossan and all her friends went out and we took the tram back home.
Spent most of the night listening if Jossan had arrived home. First by 0045. No Jossan. The at around 02.00. Still no Jossan. The I texted her and she was fine. And then at approximately 03.45. OMG; still no Jossan. She came home after sunrise, at around 04.30 and the sunrise had been beautiful she said. Then she jumped into bed after having a GREAT night out. She told us in the morning that she was so happy, but also so sad, since she will be leaving what has been her home for the last 3 years in just a few days. Some friends lives in Sweden and in Norway and Finland so they will not be that hard to visit. But all the Australians, that is another story. So of course, there are a lot of feelings!
