ABQ, Albuquerque, BonSavon, Cadillac, Love tape, Marriott, Speedlab

…or maybe not!! 😦

Jörgen and Robin took the car to the workshop this morning, to get the AC converted. The mechanic at Speedlab gave them a ride back to the hotel. At 10.00 the parts should arrive and then they should do the work in one day, so the car was supposed to be ready this evening. The mechanic seems like a really nice guy, according to what J & R have told me, and he is married to a Croatian girl, working with web design and together they have a webshop BonSavon, selling French soap (she seems to have the same work/hobbies as me, I wonder if she is into beading and sewing as well)?? 😉

Had a brunch at Jason’s Deli, it was very good and they also had glutenfree alternatives. When we had our first breakfast at the Marriott hotel in ABQ, and I asked for glutenfree bread, the waiter told me:
– Oh no, your in the mid west now! This is not like the cost states, here we are like twenty years behind. You will not find glutenfree alternatives ANYWHERE around here!! Every ABQ restaurant we visited after that Marriott breakfast had glutenfree stuff on their menues. Hahahaha, lucky for me he was totally wrong. 🙂

After our brunch we splitted up. JJB went to Verizon to, once more, try to get them to fill up our WiFi with 10 new, fresh GB. How hard can it be?? Very hard, it seems! We went there yesterday and they said they had fixed everything, we should get the GN in about 10 minutes. Nothing happend. We called the and they said that the GB will show up after midnight! Nothing happend. So…I am not sure they all know what they are doing!? 😦

Since every stop at Verizon takes at least half an hour, I didn’t want to join this time, so instead I went to….TADAAAAAA…the pool. Me and my book, so nice! I read Mari Jungstedts latest book, Du går inte ensam. I don’t know, but up til now it seems kind of predictable. Stayed two hours at the pool, one “front hour” and one “back hour”, which resulted in a little shade of red! A good red, not the Jörgen kind of red!! 😉

J&J came down to the pool and told me the sad news that the car won’t be fixed. The parts they needed haden’t arrived, in fact, hadn’t even been sent. I can send it now, the dealer said. The Speedlab guy told him it would be too late, that we were leaving tomorrow. Sooo, they have filled the car up with some new freon (380 bucks) but the air condition doesn’t really get cold, soooo, here we are again, having to drive a car with a broken air condition. Buhu, I was really hopeful about that these guys from Speedlab would fix it! 😦

Had dinner at an Italian restaurant, Romano’s Macaroni Grill. It was very good (even though the ratings on the web gave them kind of low grades), Jörgen and me took the glutenfree alternative in the Create your own pasta” menu. They have that “Build your own” concept a lot here, I think that is really good. You can chose exactly the ingredients that YOU like. Perfect!

We finished off the evening by going to the movies. Saw Sex tape with Cameron Diaz and Jason Seagal. It had a 5,1 rate at IMDB, but I would give it a 6! Hahaha, big difference…not!

BTW, you might not know but I fixed some really beautiful nails at BeautyHouse on Facebook in Västerås, Sweden, before we left for US. Now they have grown sooooo long that I really have a hard time writing on my iPad. The fingertip along with my nail covers more than on key, hahahaha. So if you see any misspellings, I blame it on my nails. If they are not repeated, of course, then I am to blame!! 😉

Stuck in ABQ…

ABQ, ABQ Trolley Tour Co, Albuquerque, Breaking Bad, Glutenfree, Gustavo Fring, Jesse, Jesses house, Le Peep, Los Pollos Hermanos, Mr White, Walter White

Now we are beginning to recognize people in ABQ! My God, have we stayed too long?? We have decided to stay here until friday and the reason for that is that the workshop will probably have done the conversion of the AC by then. The workshop owner is a really great guy married to a Croatian girl (family of yours, Dijana)?? 😉

Glutenfree Belgian waffles
Today we had breakfast around the corner, at Le Peep, and they had glutenfree waffles? Jippi!! I had one with strawberries and whipped cream and I ate it all. Mmmmmmmmmm!!!

Breaking Bad
After the breakfast we took a city tour at the ABQ Trolley Tour Co. It was a great tour, I can really recommend it to everyone that wants to get to know ABQ. Great driver and great guide. The guide asked at the beginning of the tour if there was anyone interested in Breaking Bad and we, The Anderssons, shouted YEEEES!! So then he talked quit a bit about Breaking Bad and the film team, the film sites etc, and pointed out Jesses house and some more spots to us!!! GREAT!!

BUT…for you real Breaking Bad fans out there, the Trolley tour is NOT the tour to take. What you should do is plan in advance and book the RV tour. This is THE Breaking Bad tour and it takes about 3,5 hours. They go to all the filming sites in ABQ and you all go in….YEPP, you go in the same kind of RV that Jesse and Walt did. So this, I am sure, must be the ultimate BB tour. Unfortunatly we have a hard time planning ahead since we:

1) actually don’t want to plan a lot ahead
2) want to be flexible in where to stop and for how long
3) have a %\*^#{^>%#< car we cannot rely on

so we were not able to book this tour. We hoped, we tried, and we failed!!! 😦

Later on that day we took our car and went to Los Pollos Hermanos to get the Gustavo Fring kind of feeling. The restaurant they used is called Twisters and you can really get the feeling there. It looks quit the same as in the film.

US restrooms
Speaking of something completly different, I both hate and love the restrooms in US. They have standardized them so they almost look the same, all of them. The good thing is that they, 99% of the time, have seat covers inside and that is really great (you cannot find that in Sweden). You do not have to build your own special kind of toilet seat cover! 😉

The bad thing is that there is no privacy what so ever in those small spaces. Gaps everywhere, in the corners, around the door, above, below, everywhere so anyone can look right into the rooms. I don’t like it! AT ALL. 😦

Loud and noisy alarm from my phone
Around 18.30 it started to rain and it came quit a bit of rain (which resulted in us not going to see Walt and Skylers house today, t’was too wet). Here they send out general alarms to the phones, so all of a sudden your phone starts to make a hell of a noice. Today the alarm was a Flash Flood Warning.

Phone warnings

Phone warnings

The day we went from Las Vegas to LA there was an amber alert. Some “not completly sane” grandmother had snatched the family baby, and then they sent out the alarm, together with the description of the car she drove, to all phones.

Quit smart, I would say. Why not do the same thing in Sweden, area regulated of course. The alarm concerning upper Norrland shouldn’t go off in Stockholm.

How the hell do you spell Albaquerque…

Albuquerque

Well, I am not sure that my spelling was right but I know that is where we are going. Todays trip is loooong, 500 km approximatly. We need to get going to be able to reach Chicago on time. Chicago is a deadline for us since that is when Robin is flying home and Feliks, Jossans boyfriend, is flying in.

We had some problems when packing this morning. Robins harddrive was totally gone. Jörgen looked twice in the safety box and I looked once there as well, but no, no harddrive. We looked EVERYWHERE, for at least 20 minutes, but, no harddrive. We had almost given up when Robin, all of a sudden, decided he would also take a look in the safety box, and guess what!! There it was. My God, such a lot of searching and worrying and there it was all the time. Jörgen and me could only explain us not seeing it with the fact that it looked as a part of the box itself. Black as it is, it melted in perfectly along one side of the box!!!! 😉 You can’t see what you can’t see!

Entering New Mexico
So we are travelling today from Flagstaff to Albaqeblablabla and all around us here on the way is Meat country. Cows and their calfs are all you see and most of the land is flat. The weather today is cloudy, thank God for that, makes our car environment much more pleasant. The wind blows in between the wind shield and the top so it is quit hard to talk, so we sleep, listen to music, surf and blog when in the car. Except for the driver of course, he (yes HE) is driving! 🙂

We looked up a Marriott and checked in. Now we are planning to stay here for a few days, hoping to be able to fix the AC in our car so the rest of the trip will be a bit more joyful.

I apologize for mixing languages, my intention is to write some parts in English and some in Swedish, so my English speaking friends can follow our trip as well.
