Feliks has a fever. That is timing, exactly now when we are going to Dollywood. Started the trip at 05.30 to get to there early. The heat in Nashville was so humid but that disappeared during our travel, since we went up to the mountains rather quickly, The Smokey Mountains. Now we pass one more time zon, so it is only 6 hours difference compared to Sweden.
We keep our fingers crossed today that we will travel without rain, many of our clothes are still very wet. All the books that we had in our suitcases are wet too, and when books get wet, they become three times their original size. And we do NOT have room for that. Blääääää!!
Pigeon Forge, a city like no-one else
When we arrived here, we thought that the only attraction was…yes, true, Dollywood. Well, forget about it, this place is crowded with amusement stuff, fun places, shows, restaurants, dinner shows, action etc etc. Riding down the road was like driving through an amusement park like Gröna Lund or Liseberg. Increadible!!
Overwhelmed by Dollywood
I will be honest with you, I was a bit (read very) sceptic about going to Dollywood. Just listen to the name!! How good can it be?? But I have to admit, it was very, very good. Exciting rides (for daring people like Jossan, I am to old and to much of a chicken for that shit), beautiful surroundings, great shows (country shows, bird shows etc) and lots to eat. Well, that lots to eat part isn’t that good, I think, but then again, that’s my point of view. Chips, fries, other fried stuff, I still think it is quite hard to find healthy food in America. Especially in amusement parks. And oh boy, do I miss the Swedish breakfasts!!!!! Here it is eggs and pancakes, buns and gravy. Not my kind of pie!! 😉
Anyway, we had a great time in the park and Jossan tricked Jörgen into a roller coaster that was HUGE. Four loops, 130km/h and 4G. He looked completely exhausted when they came back, and just kept on saying: OMG, OMG (in Swedish, that is). Jossan just looked very happy!! 😉
North against south at Dixie Stampede
Jörgen wanted us to walk to The Dixie Stampede so he could have a glas of wine. Jossan ans me said: No, it is too far for Feliks to walk since he has been in bed all day. So we took the car which was good in 2 different ways:
1) They only serve coke, coffe and tea at Dixie, hahahaha
2) The rain poured down when we were leaving the show
Would have been quite a big failure if we would have walked there. 😉
The show included a lot of horses, pigs, pigeons, chickens, ponnies, wagons, indians, fire, contests and flags. AND of course, Dolly Parton. It was a great American show, as if there are any bad American shows!? 🙂 You got to eat a LOT there and with your bare hands. No fork, no knife. Part of the meal was one whole chicken each!!! And as dessert me and Jörgen got the most heavenly cake ever. Glutenfree. SOOOOO GOOD!!
